I've written often about my friends' farm in Meggett, SC. Ten or more years ago their son, James surprised them with a peacock as a gift. We loved watching him strut around the farm. You never knew where he would turn up. My reference photo for this painting was shot through the screen door on their side porch. He hopped up on the porch railing and posed for me with all those beautiful feathers displayed! Such a beautiful bird.
